Lead Your K9

“If you are in need of dog training and you live even remotely close to Orwisburg you are wasting your time looking anywhere else. When I first called Lead Your K9 I was anxious and desperate because I was on the verge of having to give up my dog Kelce. My wife, 4 year-old daughter and myself, rescued Kelce when he was 7 months and he was a reasonably well behaved cute little 20 lb German Shepherd/lab mix. 6 months later and 40 lbs larger, He was out of control. I couldn't crate train him (he broke multiple crates) which meant that nothing could ever be left out and having guests over became increasingly difficult because he jumped all over everyone and barked incessantly. He destroyed everything and the worst part was I could barely walk him because he pulled incredibly hard and lunged at every dog and person. My wife couldn't walk him at all. He had literally taken over our lives. Unfortunately, it was not in the way that I had envisioned. We had some private lessons with a personal trainer but it didn't help all that much and it was very expensive. Then I spoke with Jayme and Tony at Lead Your K9 and my life changed immediately.

I decided to book Kelce for a 3 week board and train and they sent me a welcome packet and my training began immediately. Everything I was doing was wrong! Toys everywhere, and encouraging bad behavior all the time, and not even knowing it. I went for a private lesson midway through the training and was incredibly impressed. He had already made so much progress! I knew I had made the right decision. Kelce came home a different dog and my wife and I came home with the proper knowledge and tools that we needed to be successful with him.
We now have our home back and guests are welcome any time. Kelce is a pleasure to walk and both my wife and I feel confident handling him even in stressful situations as he still has some reactivity with other dogs. Don't get me wrong there is a TON of work involved in this process but if you aren't prepared to put in the work I don't think any training is going to help. You don't just send your dog away for 3 weeks and expect a show dog in return. Training is a constant in our home now and we are learning and improving every day. It's not overwhelming anymore though because Jayme and Tony are literally ALWAYS there to help. You are never alone with Lead Your K9. I can't recommend them enough. Whether you need private lessons, classes, or just boarding, this is the place to go. I drive 90 minutes to board my dog here and I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Before you make any final decisions on that new dog of yours that is tearing up the house and driving you crazy I strongly suggest you call Lead Your K9.”
